All of the classes debuted with some form of Mana for their resource. Their permanent resources were added in during later development, and tinkered with extensively.

Barbarian
In the first publically shown build of Diablo IIIFury, shown at WWI 2008, is the Barbarian used mana instead of Fury's resource. The D3 Team never actually intended It builds up as the Barbarian to use mana takes or deals damage, and is expended on most of his attack and the first build only used it as a placeholderbuff skills. The second version  Fury debuted at 2008 used a fury globe, much like in the World form of WarCraft rage, but this was a globe. During later development it changed shortly after the event to the system we see today. The into a "traffic light" stack of three orbs at Blizzcon 2009 build used the Fury Orb system, where fury builds up before changing back to "orbs" (where a full globe in early 2010. Many more details can be seen on the mana container is for casterFurys) and some skills require 1-3 orbs to usearticle
Monk
The Monk will not use manaSpirit but a martial-arts related is the Monk's resource pool. It's built up by dealing damage with skills and expended to cast other, non-combo skills.incgamers.com/blog/comments/monk It was described in mid-resource-system-complete/] No details have been released2010, but a system similar to the World and debuted at Blizzcon 2010 in October of WarCraft Rogue character seems likelythat year
Witch Doctor
Jay WilsonMana has confirmed[http://pcis the Witch Doctor's resource.ignIt works much as Mana did in Diablo I and Diablo II; some amount is expended with each cast spell from a pool that regenerates over time.com/articles/101/1017305p2.htmlVarious skills and items can hasten the regeneration rate, and the Witch Doctor can also gain mana from health orbs that if he has invested in the skills will use traditional and traitsthat allow him to do so. The Witch Doctor may ultimately get a different resource; it would work like mana, but would have a different name and a slimy, gloopy greenish appearance, simply to make it seem more Witch Doctor themed
Wizard
From the first time she was shownArcane Power, is the Wizard has used mana as 's resource pool. In , though the 2009 demoD3 team said, in late 2010, she regained that it might switch back to mana by investing skill points in Mana Recovery, making Mana Globes drop from monsters. She was since they're not entirely satisfied with how the only one who could see and benefit from themresource works. This changed in the 2009 demo, where she instead has a skill Prior to get mana as well as life from Health Globes. 22nd of September 2009Arcane Power, Bashiok announced the Wizard will not be using traditional used ManaInstability, but a resource more specialised for the class. . This which was later confirmed on 6th of January 2010, when scrapped since it did not make the name of the resource was released: character feel "Instabilityglass cannon-y" enough.
Instability caused her to become unstable when she would use a lot of spells really fast, and that would make her take increased damage from all sources but have more chance for a critical strike with her spells. This idea has been scrapped by the Developers, due to not changing the play-style as it should have. It has since been replaced with Arcane Power
Demon Hunter
The Demon Hunter class, which debuted during used 2010mana used when she debuted at 2010 as . This was a place holder. It is unknown , but the team was not ready to give any hints as to what kind of her final resource she will usemight be.
