Materials are used by the [[Artisan]]s to craft new items. [[Materials]] are also required for the [[training]] the Artisans to do level up. There may be other purposes for materials as well, but none have yet been revealed.
Subtle Essence is a magical material, and can only be obtained by recycling magical items. It is required in most recipes.
There may be other types of "essence," obtained from higher quality magical items and required to make them in turn.
