The Idol of Rygnar is a random quest present in [[Act II]] of the Diablo III demo showcased at PAX 2009.

==Background==
The quest is issued to you after talking to Poltahr, outside the entrance to the [[Lost Ruins]].

The quest requires the player to search through the dungeons of the [[Lost Ruins]] to help Poltahr find an item, eponymously named "The Idol of Rygnar".

You are rewarded with 8400 experience points and an item called [[Empire Runners|"Empire Runners"]].

In the conversation, Poltarh explained that he'd been hunting for a special idol for years, and that he'd found it, but that there were too many monsters in the way for him to reach it. He wanted your character to escort him through the [[Lost Ruins]], a desert tomb, and said he would reward you for doing so.

+Once a character accepted this quest Poltarh would follow you through a swirling vortex down into the tomb, and then stay right on your heels as you worked your way through the dungeon.  He does not fight any of the monsters or assist in the battle, and is not targeted by the monsters either.
