==Homing Pads properties==

This item's [[legendary affix]] is taken as a minor convenience by some players, who are drastically underestimating its effect. The convenience is clear, allowing a return to town without worry about the five-second casting animation being interrupted by any little hit. It can be very annoying to stand still, four seconds into the animation, when a Scavenger or Fallen or some other minor pest touches your character for negligible damage and resets the town portal timer.

The huge damage reduction while in that animation is the real power though, when a player realizes that they can cast [[Town Portal]] at any time, gain the huge damage reduction buff, then interrupt the TP themselves by moving or using a skill. Thus these shoulders provide the biggest damage reduction of any item or skill in the game, for up to 5 seconds at a time. The technique doesn't pair well with builds or play styles that require constant movement, but builds that cast a lot of DoT effects that don't need to be refreshed, or use skills that can run on for a few seconds per cast or that need downtime for [[cooldowns]] to tick, love this item. Those builds can cast their spells, hit Town Portal, and stand in the protective bubble for a few seconds, almost immune to incoming damage until they interrupt the Town Portal before the 5 seconds are up by casting a spell or moving. And this can be repeated an infinite number of times.
