This item is named after Garwulf, AKA Robert Marks, a well-known figure in the Diablo 2 community due to his [http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/comments/index-garwulfs-corner-2 Garwulf's Corner column], hosted and curated by Diabloii.net from 2001-2003.

Blizzard North's Diablo 2 developers honored numerous community members by placing their names in the game, {{iw|Mercs#Rogue_Merc_Names chiefly as hireable mercenaries}}. Thus far Diablo 3 has included almost zero fan anything in the game, while finding space to include the name of practically every developer and CM (see [[Easter Eggs]]) as a monster or item or quest or other such nod to themselves.
